“Bringing the Art house to The Outhouse.”

Dogwood 95 is dedicated to bridging the gap between the art house film world and mainstream audiences. Our goal is to avoid pretention and low-hanging fruit alike. Whether you’re a critic or a criminal, we want our work to speak to you (we do not endorse crime, unless it’s in a movie, then sometimes it’s cool).

Barry Jenkins had a great quote regarding his motivations for using Southern Hip-Hop mixing techniques on the otherwise classical score for his film, MOONLIGHT. He said he wanted to “Bring the Art House to the Hood.” That struck me like a lightning bolt. I believe that by putting story first and exposing the similarities between seemingly different cultures, we can create a deeper understanding and appreciation for all walks of life and all types of art. So I chopped-and-screwed Barry’s quote to reflect my own experiences and goals.
